The Client:
The Press-Republican is a daily newspaper in Plattsburgh, New York with a circulation of approximately 20,000.
The Problem:
One of the newspaper’s largest advertisers, Parker Chevrolet, was steadily decreasing its level of advertising. Press-Republican Circulation Director Jim Frenya needed to find a new way to ensure Parker Chevrolet’s newspaper advertisements were highly visible and, as such, highly valuable. But how?
The Solution:
After learning about how Best Bingo Promo has helped other newspapers all over the country retain advertisers, Frenya decided to offer Parker Chevrolet the opportunity to sponsor the interactive newspaper game. The advertiser agreed to the sponsorship and experienced such phenomenal results that another Best Bingo Promo was requested immediately after the first one came to an end.
“The bingo promotion brought so much goodwill and enjoyment to Press-Republican readers and potential Parker Chevrolet customers that I had tons of people approach me to express their appreciation for the game,” said Rolla Parker, Parker Chevrolet owner. “It was very well worth the cost of sponsorship.”
How It Worked:
Best Bingo Promo provided the game cards and made sure the game ran smoothly. Numbers were published in each of the Press-Republican’s daily papers, incentivizing Plattsburgh residents to purchase the newspaper, win the game and take home a cash prize.
Players who filled a row, column or diagonal were awarded $25 cash prizes. In addition, Parker Chevrolet offered a Gift certificate to each winner for one lube, oil, and filter while the first player to completely fill his or her game card was awarded $1,000.
“We’re always looking for ways to involve our readers,” Frenya said. “And we wanted to give not only our subscribers, but our single-copy purchasers additional enjoyment through the paper.”
The Results:
By sponsoring Best Bingo Promo in the Press-Republican, Parker Chevrolet’s advertisements were placed in highly visible sections of the daily newspaper. This frequency and placement increased Parker Chevrolet’s brand recognition while connecting the brand in people’s minds to a fun and exciting pastime. Win, win, win!
