Let’s face it – your readers play Bingo for the prizes. They pay attention to prizes and that’s what keeps their Bingo cards – and your advertising – on the kitchen table or hanging on the refrigerator for weeks and weeks. That’s why it’s so important to be really clear what the prizes are, how a player is going to win them, and how they are going to claim them.
This is not a good time to hide the info in the fine print; splash it all over the front of the bingo cards as well as in the publicity before the Bingo contest starts. Be sure it is very clear what the prizes are. This is the hook for your readers so be sure they know what’s in it for them!
If you are offering incremental prizes – and you should! – for first horizontal, first vertical, first “X” or whatever it is, a graphic showing what that looks like is a great way to communicate the idea instantaneously.
The type of prizes your sponsor offers can also be very effective in driving foot traffic to their place of business – for an added boost to their promotion. If it’s a pizza shop, they can offer a free pizza every week for a year or, for lesser prizes, 1 free pizza. Gift Certificates or coupons from your sponsor make great low-cost incremental prizes that help get customers into the store also.
